![]() ![]() It gets a littl odd when climbing poles since you can look forward and up with the hmd but it locks looking down or peeking side to side. Keep that camera as perpendicular to a groundplane as you can since ideally the hmd is doing all the looking. ![]() Make sure your mouselook stays as level as possible. Minimize use of mouse look - this by itself pretty much saved this game for me from being a neat vr experiment to a proper open world gaming experience Keep in mind I have some fairly hairy vr legs, and I had to use em vhen finding out best settings and practices. There are some things you can do to minimize the discomfort. If you don´t try it, you will never know :) The default game installation folder with the DyingLightGame.exe file is:Įnjoy Dying Light: The Following in VR on HTC Vive! If starting the game from Steam doesn't work in VR on HTC Vive, start the game from the game installation folder instead, by double clicking the DyingLightGame.exe file. Start the Dying Light: The Following (in Steam) and it automatically starts in your HTC Vive headset after a few seconds. Now start SteamVR and wait until everything is green and OK. The game gets patched by the Revive this way. Select the game executable file "DyingLightGame.exe" and click "Open". For example, the default path to game install is:Ĭ:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dying Light\ Browse that window into your game installation folder. Select "Patch" and a browser window pops up. Right click on the Revive Dashboard icon located on the bottom right corner next to your Windows-clock. Open up the file video.scr with any text editor, Notepad for example.Īt the bottom, add this line to the video.scr: Go to the folder below (change username to your Windows username): "C:\Users*username*\Documents\DyingLight\out\settings\" Install Revive by double click the ReviveInstaller.exe and follow all instructions until its finished. (Or get it much cheaper from alternative websites selling Steam keys such as cdkeys dot com)ĭownload the latest Revive version (1.1.7 or newer) from here (get the ReviveInstaller.exe Installer): This has been tested and fully working in VR on HTC Vive with the Dying Light: The Follows Enhanced Edition on Steam:īuy and Install Dying Light: The Following (full game) on Steam To make it easy for you, I have included my short little step-by step list, on how you get this to work in VR on HTC Vive. At least I could not see any frame drops.īig thanks to LibreVR and Revive for making this possible - even if its still a sitting-down VR experience without, it´s like night and day compared to playing on a PC monitor. I could play the game on max settings and still record it at the same time with OBS on my 1080 Ti with (as far as I could tell) full frame rate and no lost frames. I had no problems reading the menus and the HUD text. The graphics are simply stunning, the game is also very sharp and crisp in VR on default VR-supported resolution, without AA. I made a first-impression video today of my first short Dying Light: The Follows gameplay on HTC Vive, and at the end of the video, I have included a step-by-step guide how to get it to work (if you want to skip the video, I included the step-by step list in text form here below). Playing this lovely game with real 3D-depth in VR is a totally new experience, compared to before. And wow, this is really something that you all HTC Vive owners should try! What a freakin' awesome feeling and immersion, even if the roomscale is still not supported, nor the Vive controllers. I found the original announcement here on Reddit about the Revive software now supporting Dying Light on HTC Vive, and just had to try it out. ![]()
